WebJun 7, 2010 · The Browning finish is tougher to remove than Remington's RKW finish but both will fail if heated. The finish only needs to be heated 'til it boils/softens a bit. It will then be really easy to scrape off. Any bits remaining will fall apart with a little sanding. Many strippers use caustic chemicals such as lye and are water soluable. But what most call a "youth model" today is built on the smaller frames.

Hold a pin or small finish nail with a plyers and heat it over a open flame and touch the cap inside the barrel channel with the hot tip. He left it on full time for 2 years, only noticing the damage after having to remove it. The stock's RKW finish (I guess) had a chemical reaction with the sleeve's interior.
