Wrong era, etc. I often re-fire dud rounds, and it doesn't make that sort of pattern. It looks more like what happens when an inert round is used as a drill round and cycled many, many times. In the British and Commonwealth armies, the Bren was generally issued on a scale of one per rifle section.
