WebJul 1, 2014 · Abstract. The potency of Al 3 Zr and Al 3 Nb as grain refiners for Al alloys was investigated from a crystallographic point of view using the edge-to-edge matching (E2EM) model. The results show that both Al 3 Zr and Al 3 3 Zr and Al 3 Nb are potent heterogeneous nucleation refiners for Al grains from the crystallographic point of view. WebThe course is designed for individuals who desire to acquire basic crystallographic knowledge, mathematical foundations of diffraction principles, and hands-on experience in operation of diffractometers, computer software, and crystal structure determination.

Crystallographers often explicitly state the type of beam used, as in the terms X-ray crystallography, neutron diffraction and electron diffraction. These three types of radiation interact with the specimen in different ways. X-rays interact with the spatial distribution of electrons in the sample.
